10 lbs. and more to go

by Sue

For years I was never overweight or ever had to diet until I hit my early 40s and then weight started to creep up on me. I never really liked to exercise much but would do so occasionally. The idea of going to a gym to workout just isn’t my cup of tea especially since the nearest gym is at least 10 miles away. When a family member recently suffered a heart attack at a relatively young age I decided it was time to make some lifestyle changes and decided to start using my treadmill at home more. The thought of getting on that thing for 1/2 hr. every day seemed like an eternity but I willed myself to do it and now almost 5 months later it has become my (almost) daily regimen and I actually look forward to it. I walk 3.5 to 3.7 mph for 1/2 hr. or more  (between 1-1/2 and 2 miles), after that I do yoga, and then lastly use our weight-lifting machine for my arms and legs – about 45 mins. of exercise a day. I’ve now lost 10 lbs. and my muscles are becoming more toned.  I hope to lose at least 15 or more pounds and will update this post when I achieve my goal.
